early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise

Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise is an idiom which is not so often used but has become a cliche due to being used in a variety of books and other forms of media. This phrase is referring to the fact that when you have hard, diligent work it is encouragement for being happy, healthy and wise in life. The phrase dates back to the 1700s in Benjamin Franklins annual journal, the Poor Richards Almanack.
