fake it till you make it

Fake it till you make it is a common cliche which is referring to faking the appearance of something until you no longer have to fake it. This catchphrase is often used when you are imitating confidence so that when your confidence will lead to success, you will then be able to generate real confidence because you are now truly successful. The phrase is also used when you are imitating something, such as having fine furniture that is less than what it appears to be, until you make enough money to get the real thing.
