No pain, no gain is the catch phrase used for explaining that you must be willing to endure some kind of discomfort or inconvenience in order to achieve goals which will be worthwhile and beneficial to you. This can be in relation to a physical goal such as losing weight, improving your fitness or achieving an athletics goal, or be related to another goal or type of work you are trying to accomplish. No pain, no gain can be quite literal in that you feel physical pain from working out but gain muscle in the process.
