over the edge

Over the edge is the catch phrase used as an idiom when something or something is out of control or doing something excessive. Over the edge is often used for a variety of situations, but usually in reference to people who seem to be getting out of hand and out of control in what they have been doing and working excessively when it is not really necessary. If someone has gone over the edge, they have done much more than they needed to or exaggerated the current situation.
