the early bird gets the worm

The early bird gets the worm is a phrase that means if you wake up and get to work early, you will succeed far more than someone who wakes up and gets to work late in the day. This is sometimes used as a remark about someone who is awake and working surprisingly early, but often said to this person in a sarcastic way as in relation to them trying to get ahead of all the other people at their job.
