try as I might

Try as I might is a common idiom phrase which acts as an expression of regret or failure in an introductory way. This is typically in the beginning of a statement where someone regrets that they have not been able to fulfill their obligations or what was expected of them and unfortunately they have failed at their quest. Try as I might is another way of saying this person tried their best at something, but for whatever reason, it did not work out in the end.
